Vapor Barrier

A material installed in heating systems to prevent the migration of water vapor, reducing the risk of condensation and moisture-related issues.

Variable Speed Blower

A blower in heating systems with adjustable speed settings, allowing for precise control of airflow and distribution.

Variable-speed

Variable-speed furnaces are some of the most efficient heating units out there because they allow for more control over the blower motor. Variable speed ensures the furnace only uses the necessary amount of energy for any given environmental temperature. This means the furnace only functions at full capacity when absolutely necessary.

Vent

An opening or passage in heating systems that allows air or gases to enter or exit, facilitating airflow for combustion or ventilation.

Vent Damper

A device in heating systems that regulates the flow of combustion gases by opening or closing the vent, improving energy efficiency.

Vent Pipe

A pipe in heating systems used to exhaust combustion gases, such as flue gases from furnaces or boilers, to the outdoors.

Vented Heater

A type of heating appliance in which combustion gases are vented to the outside atmosphere through a chimney or flue.

Ventilation

The process of exchanging indoor and outdoor air in a building to maintain indoor air quality and remove pollutants.

Ventilation Louver

A slatted opening in heating systems that allows airflow while preventing the ingress of rain, snow, or debris into ventilation ducts.

Ventilation Rate

The amount of air exchanged per unit of time in a building, typically expressed in cubic feet per minute (CFM) or air changes per hour (ACH).

Ventilation System

A system in heating systems that circulates air within a building, providing fresh air intake and exhaust to maintain indoor air quality.

Viscosity

A measure of the resistance of a fluid to flow, affecting heat transfer and circulation in heating systems.
