Osburn Narrow Faceplate, Inspire

Yes. A faceplate is a required component of the Osburn Inspire wood insert OB02045 installation — one faceplate option must be selected and installed to complete the insert's installation against the face of the masonry fireplace. The Inspire insert is supplied without a faceplate as standard and requires the owner to select one of the three available faceplate options — the AC01022 4-sided narrow faceplate, the AC01020 U-shape narrow faceplate, or the AC01021 cuttable faceplate — to cover the gap between the insert body and the masonry fireplace opening and provide a finished appearance for the installation.

The AC01022 4-sided narrow faceplate is appropriate when the Inspire insert fits tightly inside the masonry fireplace opening with only a small gap between the insert body and the opening surround on all four sides, including below the insert. The bottom panel of the 4-sided faceplate provides the lower closure that gives the installation a fully enclosed picture-frame appearance. The AC01020 U-shape narrow faceplate covers only three sides — the top and both sides — and does not include a bottom panel. It is used when the bottom of the insert rests directly on the fireplace floor and no gap coverage is needed below the insert, or when the raised hearth configuration of the masonry fireplace means a bottom faceplate panel is not appropriate for that installation.

The Inspire insert offers three faceplate options. The AC01022 is the narrow faceplate in 4-sided configuration, measuring 30 inches wide by 26-7/8 inches high, providing a thin picture-frame finish on all four sides of the insert opening. The AC01020 is the narrow faceplate in U-shape configuration, measuring 30 inches wide by 25-1/8 inches high, covering the top and both sides without a bottom panel. The AC01021 is the cuttable faceplate measuring 32 inches by 50 inches, in 16-gauge steel that can be cut with a grinder to any shape needed — including custom arched profiles to match a decorative masonry fireplace arch — and is appropriate when there is a wider gap between the insert and the opening that requires a broader flashing coverage.

Where the geometry of the masonry fireplace opening requires the Inspire insert to be raised to align correctly with the opening, the insert can be elevated on a row of bricks laid on the fireplace floor. In this configuration, the bottom panel of the AC01022 4-sided faceplate covers the gap between the underside of the insert and the fireplace floor, providing the fully enclosed picture-frame appearance that gives the installation a built-in look. This is a recognised installation approach for the 4-sided narrow faceplate and is described in the Inspire faceplate installation instructions. The row of bricks used to raise the insert must be stable and correctly positioned before the insert is placed on top of them.

The Osburn Inspire wood insert OB02045 is an EPA-certified wood burning fireplace insert with a 79 percent optimal efficiency rating and a particle emission rate of 2.3 grams per hour. It features a large glass door measuring 24-13/16 inches wide by 18-1/2 inches high, a 144 CFM blower, an ash drawer, and a recommended heating area of 500 to 2,100 square feet. It accepts logs up to 20 inches in length and requires a minimum masonry fireplace opening of 24-5/8 inches high by 29 inches wide by 20-3/4 inches deep. A minimum chimney height of 12 feet is required. A faceplate and a liner are required to complete the installation.

In addition to the three faceplate options, the Osburn Inspire insert has several optional accessories. The AC01298 5-inch oval fresh air intake kit provides a dedicated outside combustion air supply for installations requiring one. The AC03095 blower assembly with variable speed control provides an upgraded convection blower option. The AC05959 metallic black stove paint aerosol allows touch-up of the insert body finish. Flex liner kits are available to line the chimney for the insert installation. All optional accessories and their compatibility with the OB02045 should be confirmed against the Inspire insert owner's manual before ordering.
