Duravent Stove Pipe DuraTech Chimney Pipe SS, 5" x 9"

The 5DT-09SS is suitable for use with any appliance that has been tested and listed for use with a 2,100°F HT chimney system. This includes wood stoves, wood fireplaces, factory-built zero-clearance fireplaces, furnaces, boilers, ranges, water heaters, and other appliances fueled by wood, oil, coal, or gas. The appliance's installation documentation or certification label will confirm whether it requires a Class A HT chimney system. The 5-inch inner diameter of the 5DT-09SS matches appliances with a 5-inch flue collar or connector outlet — confirm the required chimney diameter against the appliance's installation instructions before ordering.

The nominal length of the 5DT-09SS pipe section is 9 inches, but DuraTech pipe sections overlap at each joint connection. To calculate the actual installed length contribution of each pipe section in a DuraTech chimney run, subtract 1-1/4 inches from the nominal pipe length for each joint overlap in the system. For a 9-inch nominal section, the installed length contribution is therefore approximately 7-3/4 inches after accounting for the joint overlap at one end. This overlap calculation must be applied to every pipe section and fitting in the chimney run when calculating the total installed height of the DuraTech chimney system.

The DuraVent DuraTech 5DT-09SS requires a minimum 2-inch clearance to combustible materials throughout the chimney run — including framing members, flooring, wall materials, and any other combustible building components in the vicinity of the pipe. This 2-inch clearance must be maintained at all points where the chimney pipe passes through or adjacent to combustible building materials. When the chimney passes through a floor or ceiling, the appropriate DuraTech firestop radiation shield or support box must be installed as directed in the DuraTech installation instructions to maintain the required clearance and provide the required fire separation at that penetration point.

The 5DT-09SS and 5DT-09B are both 5-inch inner diameter, 9-inch length DuraTech double-wall all-fuel chimney pipe sections with identical inner wall construction of .020-inch 430 stainless steel and identical Thermal Tech insulation. The difference is the outer wall material and finish — the 5DT-09SS has an outer wall of .016-inch 430 stainless steel providing a brushed metallic exterior appearance, while the 5DT-09B has an outer wall of .021-inch galvalume steel with a black painted finish. The black finish option is commonly selected for pipe sections that are exposed in the living space where a black exterior matches the stove connector appearance, while the stainless steel outer is typically used for exterior or concealed runs.

DuraVent provides a limited lifetime warranty on the 5DT-09SS, covering defects in material and manufacturing when the product is properly installed, maintained, and used. However, a critical warranty condition applies — the DuraTech system warranty is only fully valid when installed by a qualified professional installer, defined by DuraVent as a licensed contractor with prior chimney installation experience, a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, an NFI Certified Specialist, or a WETT Certified Professional. The warranty additionally requires annual inspection, maintenance, and cleaning by a certified chimney sweep, with each inspection documented on the warranty card provided with the product. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, chimney fire damage, or products purchased outside of authorized DuraVent dealers.

A complete DuraTech 5-inch chimney system requires multiple components in addition to straight pipe sections like the 5DT-09SS. Floor and ceiling support boxes provide structural support for the chimney run and the required fire separation at floor and ceiling penetrations. The DuraTech firestop radiation shield is required at floor and ceiling penetrations where a support box is not used. Roof flashings sized to the specific roof pitch provide weather-tight penetration at the roof. A storm collar seals around the pipe above the roof flashing. A chimney cap terminates the system at the top of the installation. Elbows are available for offset runs. All components must be from the DuraTech 5-inch product family to maintain system listing and warranty validity.
